Real New York Wedding | Valerie + Michael at the Tribeca Rooftop

Meet Valerie and Michael...your average New Yorkers {each with kids} who decided its never too late to start a new chapter in your life!  This beautiful couple met at work and had immediate chemistry.  But you don't need to take our word for it.  Just take peek at these gorgeous photos submitted by Danny Weiss... Yup, we're definitely feeling the love!

Valerie wore an ivory, strapless Badgley Mischka Lexington gown, embellished with beads and sequins on the bodice.  The a-line skirt was accented with chiffon waves of fabric {seriously, we love this dress}!  She chose Yves Saint Laurent sandals to complete the outfit, and accessorized with a rose gold Cartier bracelet {which Michael had given her a month after they started dating} as well as white gold and diamond dangling earrings!

Michael wore a Giorgio Armani tuxedo with an orchid boutonniere {white, with a hint of purple} which kept the look clean and modern.

The couple chose to not have a bridal party.  Instead they had special friends and family members play a role in the wedding by doing readings during the ceremony, introducing them for the first time, and giving toasts during the reception!

Valerie and Michael met at work when they were scheduled to have a meeting together.  Each thought the other was attractive, but neither was wearing a wedding ring.  Valerie said, "I thought for sure there was something wrong with him, like he was typical NY single-guy who didn't want to commit." Michael couldn't understand how Valerie could be single and continued to pursue her in the following months...

"He truly is the man of my dreams...it was as if we had waited our whole lives to meet each other and we finally did" said Valerie.

The best man, Jack {Valerie's son} sported a tuxedo and had two boutonnieres made up for him {one plain white and one that matched Michael's}.  This way he could choose to stand out from the crowd if he wanted... Ok fine, it was to prevent any meltdowns ~ but we'll give him the benefit of the doubt!

Valerie and Michael used excerpts from love letters they had previously written to each other, as their wedding vows.  "I promise to always kiss you goodnight, smile when you walk through the door, hold your hand, thank you for the little things and love you always."  {We think those may be some of the best vows we've heard in a while}!

Jack definitely gets our vote as best dressed, best man!  These two are so adorable {we love the suits and sneakers combo ~ so cute}!

Cocktail hour was held on the Tribeca Rooftop {despite the prediction of a June heat wave and a thunderstorm}!  The weather cooled off, however, just in time for crab cake appetizers and hand-selected French red and white wine!

Both wanted a modern, elegant wedding that was somewhat informal.  They used purple {their favorite color} in the invitations and flower scheme.  Fuchsia and silver accents {such as the silver pin tucked tablecloths} were used to bring out the various shades of purple.  The Tribeca Rooftop was decorated with pillar candles to accentuate the loft windows and exposed brick walls.

"We asked the DJs to create a set of songs for Jack...once those songs came on Jack took over the dance floor, singing and dancing and commanding the room!  His cousin, Quinn accompanied him showing off his break dancing moves!  It was definitely one of the highlights of the event, which people still comment on months later," said Valerie.
