While it's not the most obvious choice for a bachelorette get-together... these two-hour private parties, filled with drinks, finger foods and shoulder rubs {given by a topless waiter} are sure to provide an unforgettable experience. Not to mention the very handsome {very nude} made model to be drawn!
"A colleague of mine was trying to organize a fun bachelorette celebration in Manhattan and all the options weren't very tasteful and lacked excitement," said co-owner Samara Hodgson. Thats when she and her partner Fleur Childs realized The Artful Bachelorette was the perfect idea for New York City. We are so excited to chat with the artful bachelorettes themselves about this new and exciting way to celebrate!
Merci: What inspired this ever-so-creative concept? How did it come to life?
Sam and Fleur: We hail from Down Under, and this cheeky concept has be a "must" for Aussie brides for years. Sam suggested the idea to a colleague planning a party and was shocked to find her friend had never heard of it. Fleur had run these types of parties in Sydney and had also become aware that art parties were not popular in NYC yet. Having just met in NYC, we quickly shared our experiences, did a lot of research and came to the thrilling discovery that we could bring it to the US.
Merci: That's too funny! So, where exactly did the company begin? Where is it located now? Sam and Fleur: The Artful Bachelorette was founded in NYC April 2012. So far it's just New York, but some day we'd love to expand to other US cities - We have our eye on Vegas! For now though, non-NYC brides can find us on Facebook and Twitter.
Merci: Fill us in {and don't be shy!} What's your favorite part of this line of work?
Sam and Fleur: Umm... did we mention we cast and hire gorgeous male nude models? Ha!
Sam: For me, I've worked in online marketing for eight years and I'm getting a massive buzz out of doing something tactile and real. Helping put together an event, working with all the venues, models and then getting to host the event and interact and see your happy clients is so rewarding. For Fleur, she gets to share her craft while defying all "artist" stereotypes and is a very skilled business woman~ she's our bulldog.
Merci: Amazing! How do you accommodate the not-so-artful and not-so-daring party guests?
Sam and Fleur: Anyone can draw. Our initial exercises are all about exercising your creative muscles, learning to look and draw~ not just draw what you think you are seeing. Then we break into some more fun group exercises and end with a longer draw. The whole time you have an art teacher guiding each student to their appropriate level. We're pretty skilled at feeling out a room and the individual to help them get the most out of the class, whether a novice or expert.
As for the not-so-daring, we can put some clothes on our gentleman... well maybe some briefs... or some very tight pants.
Merci: So why do you think brides should choose The Artful Bachelorette as their sendoff to the big day?
Sam and Fleur: Bachelorettes want something memorable, fun, full of energy and a little cheeky~ The Artful Bachelorette is that. Girls party with their friends all the time, so a simple night on the town won't do. At the other end of the spectrum are strippers... and they're just gross. What's more fun than being arty and flirty with pals over drinks?
Merci: Sounds awesome... Is there anything else you want to share before we {sadly} bid you farewell?
Sam and Fleur: We're both big personalities completely obsessed with New York, art, fashion, start-ups, events and this business. We bring the highest level of service and enthusiasm possible to what we do and we'll do everything in our power to make sure your party is spectacular. We've been so very lucky that things have gone this well for our launching year and have some really exciting things in the pipelines, so we hope your readers can get on board early and be part of this growing rage. We want to bring the ass back to classy.
