Something old, something new, something borrowed and
something blue…this bride didn’t need any help remembering this traditional
rhyme when she started planning her wedding. With a new dress, her grandparents wedding bands {old AND
borrowed!}, and her bridesmaids walking down the aisle in navy blue, she covered
all her bases... Luckily, Christopher Duggan was there every step of the way to capture all the gorgeous details!
Yael had always known she’d wear a lace gown on her wedding
day, and once she slipped into this Alvina Valenta dress at Kleinfeld’s she
knew... this was it! Accesorized
with a mantilla lace cathedral veil and light pink, peep toe Badgley Mischka
heels she captured the elegant and chic style she was looking for.
Yael and Adam met their sophomore year at Penn State and have been
together ever since. They both moved to NYC and quickly became part of each other’s
families, all the while knowing that marriage was in their future.
Adam complimented Yael by wearing a custom tuxedo with a
black bow tie. They were both married in Yael’s grandparents’ wedding rings
{which we find so sweet}!
Yael, who swears she is virtually impossible to surprise,
woke up one morning to find the surprise of her life! Heading for the shower before work one day, she opened the
bathroom door to find candles and rose pedals on the floor with a pair of
airplane tickets to Mexico up against the mirror. Being 7:30 in the morning she was a little confused
{understandably so!} and walked out to the living room to find Adam down on one
knee. With a new ring on her hand
and an hour to pack, she was headed to Mexico to celebrate the next chapter of her
life. Now THAT"S an engagement story!
For their wedding, The Rockleigh Country Club was decorated with a natural color scheme, gold chairs, and four
different centerpieces all utilizing branches, white flowers, tall glasses
vases and plenty of candles! With
on-going lighting changes, the room's mood was always changing.
Yael shared these words of wisdom with our Merci New York readers: “Remember why you are getting married... it’s not about the
party, it’s not about the color of the table linens, or the flavor of your
signature drink. Although the details certainly enhance, you are there to marry
the love of your life and that is so much bigger than a single day. I never
lost sight of that and for that reason, I never found myself stressed out about
our wedding day. I married my best friend and that is truly all I needed.” {We couldn’t agree more!}
