While we do love glitz, glam and over the top affairs, Katie and Eric show plenty of glam in their scaled down, stylish and amazingly heartfelt wedding. And with fall in full swing, what a perfect wedding to share this week! This wedding, photographed by Mark Mirocha Photography, is best described by Katie {the bride} as having a "handmade barn party" theme. {And we are simply smitten}! Take a peek at this endearing fall wedding nestled up in the Catskill Mountains and the Full Moon Resort!
Katie, staying true to her style and theme, wore the perfect simple and elegant dress, the Cecelia by J. Crew. A long, ivory, slinky silk gown with capped sleeves and an empire waist. Embellished with a simple and beautiful silk taffeta sash, wrapped around and tied into a perfect big bow in the back! {Sighing with sheer bow love}! All paired with fun and simply sweet, pinkish-fold sheen flats by Report and the brides personal pearls ~ perfect!
Eric also looked stunning in a great charcoal grey suit from J. Crew, detailed with Scotch and Soda suspenders, a fantastic tie and shirt by The Brooklyn Tailor and black wingtip shoes by Stacy Adams; very debonair. Along with his handsome boutonniere {made by the bride's mother} was a great, personal DIY piece for this wedding!
Katie and Eric entrusted their 'best ladies' and 'best men' to put together their own simple and fashionable looks for the wedding, and they did not disappoint "They looked amazing," said Katie.
The two met when Katie's plans fell through to stay with a friend while visiting New York to look at graduate schools. She ended up having to crash on a friend of a friend's couch... and you guessed it! Eric lived there. The two continued to chat long distance until she graduated and made the big move from the west to east coast the following spring. And the rest, as they say, is history. {Goes to show you those wrenches thrown into the original plan can actually become the most important part of your plan}! What a fun story!
While the ceremony took place outdoors nestled between a field and creek, the reception was held {mostly} indoors at The Full Moon Resort's newly renovated barn, which the couple filled with twinkling lights, silver and gold foiled lanterns, flowers, lovely handmade items... and family and friends!
"One of the most special things about the reception décor was that my family contributed to so many lovely handmade items. My dad made about 30 ceramic vases for the table centerpieces glazed in simple white and cream. They looked incredible with our bright flowers. My aunt Helen brought us 70 small pots of honey from her very own hives she keeps at the school she runs in Oakland, which we put at each place setting," said Katie. {So sweet and fun}!
Katie and Eric did not have a specific color scheme for their wedding, mainly because they couldn't decide on one! However, they did draw a lot of their inspiration from the 1930's fabric they purchased to make the napkins for their reception, which they also ended up using for the garland and favor bags. We are in love with these sweet, personal favors. Amazing!
