Today, Plum Pretty Sugar's founder, Charlotte Hale, shares her visions with us. With an inspired attention to detail and a well-crafted aesthetic, Hale and Plum Pretty Sugar Loungerie perfect the art of getting ready with style and ease. From tunics and dresses to bridesmaids robe sets {and everything in between}, Plum Pretty Sugar addresses the chic coziness we at Merci have fallen in love with... we think you will too!
Merci: What inspired you to develop Plum Pretty Sugar?
What was missing in the market that the line fulfills?
Charlotte: Plum Pretty Sugar Loungerie lived in my heart
for some time before pouring out and over. It was a journey of sorts - a
mutation of lessons learned, life changes, heartbreak and inspiration. Like
a dream I pieced together in order to find my path, my truth. Throughout
this there was this idea of how I wanted to feel - the carefree-ness of
breezy happiness, of cozy comfort and with an ease of living beautifully, inspired and with heart. From there came Plum Pretty Sugar.
Charlotte: The idea of inspiration is so interesting me - the deep down feeling of what inspires me and not someone else. I suppose it is that sort of eclectic thinking that moves me. And so to be moved - gosh, it is color, especially in dreams, art, nature. Night-blooming flowers, fashion photography or just a feeling that bubbles up.
Merci: Where can our readers find your beautiful pieces?
Charlotte: We are a little and so very happy company. There is lots of sweet shopping on our site for bridesmaid robes, dresses, tunics and all kinds of loungewear at www.PlumPrettySugar.com. You can also follow our Behind the Scenes journey on our blog and see our inspirations at Pinterest and our visual diary at Tumblr.
Charlotte: I like to think that Plum Pretty Sugar Loungerie speaks to most women. And while not every woman sees the same thing, I think that most find it spirited, heart-full, feminine, maybe effortless chic, maybe fun, maybe 40s glam, Parisian, Moroccan, island-inspired -- whatever the case, I hope there is something in it for most. Something that moves them, touches them, lifts their spirits.
Merci: Our
"Merci New York" blog caters to the chic sensibilities of the busy New
York City bride. Even though you are not based in NYC, we know you
travel here quite often. Where do you go to shop and get inspired?
Charlotte: I adore NYC. I can spend hours in NYC in every
type of shopping environment. The hustle and bustle of streets shops, the
quietude of others... I have a love for high heels, sandals and bags. Pretty
things, nicely made things. Fashion that is somehow thoughtful and thought
through. Right now, I most adore the Far West Village. And always,
Chelsea Market. I also really love MOMA. I think there is so much inspiration and
adeptness in any kind of art. I love the idea of the presence of an artist
in their work and how that translates. MOMA is so extraordinary in their
choice of exhibitions and I feel like they really bring modern art to the
forefront and create a real sense of energy, interest and a real
leadership sensibility.
Charlotte: Enjoying
the process of inspiration and creation, I coined the term “loungerie,”
a word that truly evokes her brand’s aesthetic and inspires a feminine,
relaxed lifestyle.
