Maria and Kirk wed in the beautiful Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and continued the celebrations at the iconic Plaza Hotel. Enjoy as talented {and truly delightful} photographer Kathi Littwin captures the intricate details of the fabulous couple's big NYC day!
Maria glowed in a Monique Lhuillier ivory silk satin embellished corset bodice gown with modified A-line skirt from the designer's spring 2009 collection. She chose to accessorize her bridal look with Jimmy Choo's "India" sandal in champagne and a long veil with embroidered edge. Her seven bridesmaids radiated in Vera Wang gowns.
The Plaza, the quintessential Manhattan wedding venue, was the perfect spot for the native New York high school sweethearts to celebrate their union. Maria notes, "New York City is where we both grew up and where nearly all our friends and family are. We felt the Plaza is an iconic New York location with timeless elegance - and the food, service, and decor were excellent."
After the Greek Orthodox ceremony at New York City's Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, newly wed Maria and Kirk sashayed to the tune of Unforgettable by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole. Their first dance as man and wife was held amidst the night's aubergine and silver decorated Grand Ballroom.
Bride Maria adds, "We had no specific theme, but we wanted to have a glamorous wedding with fantastic food, wine and entertainment. With respect to the color scheme we didn't want just one color to dominate; we wanted colors that complemented the ivory and gold in The Plaza and that reflected the change in seasons from summer to fall."
The wedding cake was a five tier Ron Ben-Israel design, decorated with a cascade of cream colored flowers. The featured flavors were an alternation of chocolate with Grand Marnier and vanilla cake, and hazelnut praline and blackberry with a filling of chopped berries.
