When it rains, it pours. Especially for high school sweethearts Jeff and Rachel. These adorable lovebirds got engaged on a rainy day, had Hurricane Irene crash their engagement party {who invited her?}, and couldn't ditch the clouds on their stormy wedding day at Temple Beth Sholom in Roslyn, NY.
But no amount of gray skies could dampen the couple's wedding day spirits {or picture perfect hair}. Jason Groupp Photography was ready on the scene to capture their charm and elegance. Rumor has it they even talked the rain into stopping long enough for some great outdoor shots.
Rachel wore a breathtaking all-over lace Vera Wang gown and veil and amazing metallic Manolo Blahnik shoes.
The blue hue of the chuppah from the stained glass windows is so romantic!
I love that Jason Groupp turned cloudy skies into an adorable photo opportunity. How cute are the rainboots with that gorgeous wedding dress?
The couple acknowledged parents and grandparents by dedicating a table to old family wedding photos. {So sweet!} The photos add a vintage charm the classic wedding.
Who said a wedding cake couldn't be pretty and fun? Rachel and Jeff added some humor to their wedding cake by adding a baseball field jutting out of the base of the cake.
From the Bride:
Jeff and I met in typical high school fashion. We were introduced in a bowling alley at a school sponsored function in the ninth grade. Things became a bit more serious in college. We had a long distance relationship but eventually moved to Cambridge, MA.
Jeff proposed while we were taking a walk on the Esplanade along the Charles River in Boston. Luckily for him, his grand plans were not nixed by the persistent rain that lasted just until right before I left work. Exhausted from a long week, I mustered my strength to go on a walk before dinner, because as Jeff said to lure me, "the Esplanade is supposedly beautiful after it rains."
Despite the gloominess outside, nothing could dampen my spirits after seeing Jeff for the first time at the wedding. With the help of a golfer's umbrella we even managed a few pictures in the backyard.
Everything about the wedding was better than I could have ever imagined. The amazing pictures taken by Jason Groupp and his exceptional team of photographers brings us back to our wedding day each time we look at them. They are the perfect representation of what was undoubtedly the best day of our lives.
I wish I could say I'm tired of people telling me that it's good luck to have it rain on your wedding day, but I can't help but believe that there's something to it. It rained the day we got engaged, Hurricane Irene struck just days before our engagement party, it literally showered the day of my Bridal Shower, and the weather the day of the wedding was probably the worst we've had all year. It wouldn't be fair for me to curse the rain though; it's brought me and Jeff nothing but a year of blessings, foreshadowing a lifetime of happiness.
