Portfolio: Chic New York City Styled Shoot at the Surrey Hotel

Last week, we were thrilled to see Merci New York's fashion styling work on Style Me Pretty! We had the pleasure of collaborating on a fabulously chic shoot with some truly wonderful NYC wedding professionals. The concept, derived by Lauren of loli events, was to create an editorial project that told a story of reunited love. From the bride's pensive waiting and sexy boudoir to his long awaited arrival... then to their proposal, romantic elopement and {naturally!} glamorous post-wedding celebration, Merci New York had the pleasure of styling several scenes for all aspects of a chic city wedding. It was a perfect way to showcase our services and work with some truly remarkable artists, including Gigi Blue and kat flower. Take a peek at the photos from the ever-talented Missy Photography {and be sure to visit the full gallery on SMP, here}...
merci-new-york-fashion-stylingmerci-new-york-fashion-stylingmerci-new-york-fashion-stylingFor the boudoir scenes, we wanted to evoke a very glamorous, classic, Upper East Side feel - essentially everything the Surrey Hotel represents and more. The fur and Aruna Seth shoes are available at Gabriella Bridal Salon, and the lingerie was from Agent Provocateur. I immediately gravitated to the pink and black chevron stripes of the bustier, which had a glam pin-up feel, and layered it with a simple black Victoria's Secret kimono and a beaded necklace from Max & Chloe...
merci-new-york-fashion-stylingThroughout the editorial, I wanted to make sure the fashions for him were accessible, and vintage inspired without appearing costumed. Jonathan, our model, actually added a few of his own wardrobe pieces to the mix, but the majority of the pulls were from Zara and J Crew. The vintage luggage is from our in-house kit, and her sweet sundress is also available at Gabriella Bridal Salon.merci-new-york-fashion-stylingmerci-new-york-fashion-stylingThe fashion in the proposal scene is intentionally neutral, to play up kat flower's bold and beautiful floral designs, as well as Gigi Blue's decadent desserts. The Allison Parris gown is one of our styling team's favorite picks for reception dresses, as the feathered mini is also available in white {also at Gabriella Bridal Salon}. Her jewelry is also a mix of high and low, from vintage antique baubles, to more accessible black stone necklaces and bracelets from Monet Jewelry... her hair and makeup are beautifully styled by Styles on B and Expert Makeup Artistry. merci-new-york-fashion-stylingmerci-new-york-fashion-stylingFor the city wedding scene, I had a lot of fun with the styling. His vintage inspired slim pant and piped jacket provide a crisp contrast to her ethereal Marchesa gown from Gabriella. Kat flower's soft florals {bouquet, boutonniere and hair flowers, tie the look together and look ever so chic against his graphic {and again, Zara!} tie. Her delicate, garnet chain necklace {from Monet} plays against the lavender tones in the florals as well. The goal was to show a perfect pairing of soft and posh, something most city brides want to achieve. merci-new-york-fashion-stylingmerci-new-york-fashion-stylingmerci-new-york-fashion-stylingmerci-new-york-fashion-stylingmerci-new-york-fashion-stylingAs an intimate late-night celebration ensues in a cozy banquette in the back of Daniel Boulud's Bar Pleaides, I dressed her in a sparkling Allison Parris cocktail dress, and him in a slim fit suit sans tie. She wears gold Aruna Seth butterfly heels, a pleated black and gold bib necklace from Monet, and an antique crystal cuff from my husband's grandmother. His purple socks circle back to the floral scene and add a touch of whimsy.
